Our Story

We’re padel players. We got tired of choosing between a racket bag built for men and a gym holdall that swallowed everything - and couldn’t find one that carried our whole day and still looked like us. So we made it.

Won me over on a rainy commute

I bought the écru mainly for the looks and ended up loving it for a reason I never anticipated: a miserable, drizzly Monday commute. Fully loaded with my laptop, racket and a change of clothes, I walked to the station in steady rain, sat on a packed train with the bag on my lap, and dashed to the office. Everything inside stayed dry, the bag didn't water-mark despite the light colour, and it still looked crisp when I sat down at my desk. It handled a genuinely grim morning without a single complaint, and that's when I knew it was a keeper.

Better than the bag the pros were using

I noticed a couple of the better players at my club with bulky branded racket bags and felt a bit smug that mine does more and looks nicer. The écru holds my racket just as securely in its shaped pocket, ventilates my shoes, protects my laptop and doesn't announce itself as sports kit to the whole café afterwards. It's proof you don't need the biggest, most aggressive-looking bag to have the most useful one. Quietly excellent is exactly my taste, and this delivers it. I get more comments on this than I ever did on any 'proper' racket bag.

Elegant enough for work, tough enough for sport

My job is fairly corporate and I was worried a padel bag would look out of place walking into the building. The écru completely solves that — it reads as a smart, minimal work bag, and only I know about the racket compartment and vented shoe pocket hidden inside. It transitions from a 9am meeting to a 6pm game without me needing to go home and swap bags. That double life is exactly what I wanted and could never find before. Smart on the outside, seriously practical on the inside, and neutral enough to go with any outfit.

The one bag I'd repurchase instantly

The real test of a product is whether you'd buy it again if it vanished, and I would, without hesitation and probably that same day. The écru does everything I need, looks lovely doing it, and has held up to months of real use. I've stopped looking at other bags entirely, which for someone who used to change bags constantly is remarkable. If it were lost or stolen tomorrow I'd reorder before I'd finished being annoyed about losing it. That's about the strongest endorsement I can give anything I own.

Made me look forward to the faff of packing

Getting ready for padel used to be a scramble of finding a carrier bag for shoes and cramming things into a shapeless holdall. Now there's a satisfying little routine — racket in its slot, shoes in the vent, laptop in the sleeve, essentials in the pockets — and everything just clicks into place. The écru bag sitting by the door ready to go somehow makes the whole thing feel more intentional. Silly perhaps, but a well-organised bag genuinely makes the admin of a busy life feel less like a chore. This one does that.

The strap system is smarter than it looks

I dismissed the whole three-ways-to-carry thing as marketing until I lived with it. The straps genuinely clip on and off cleanly, no fiddling, no leftover dangly bits. When I want it as a tidy handbag-style carry, the extra straps vanish. When I need it hands-free, they're on in seconds. It means one bag covers the school run, the commute and the court without ever looking wrong for the setting. The beige keeps it looking like a considered accessory rather than sports equipment in every one of those modes. Cleverer than I gave it credit for.

Six months in and still recommending it

I don't usually leave reviews but this one earned it. Six months of hard use — twice-weekly games, work days, a couple of weekends away — and it's still going strong. The écru has stayed clean, the zips still glide, nothing has torn or sagged. More tellingly, I've recommended it to at least five people and two have bought it and thanked me. A bag you're still enthusiastic about after half a year of daily abuse is a rare thing. Whatever they're doing in the construction, they're doing it right.

Practical without looking utilitarian

So many functional bags look like tactical gear — all straps and mesh and aggressive branding. This écru one is proof you can have all the function without any of the ugliness. Everything clever about it is hidden: the racket pocket, the shoe vent, the laptop sleeve, the organiser pockets. On the outside it's just a clean, elegant, softly structured beige bag you'd happily carry anywhere. That gap between how simple it looks and how much it actually does is my favourite thing about it. Form and function usually fight; here they get along.

Beige was the right call for hiding wear

I always avoid light-coloured bags assuming they'll look grubby in a week. Took a punt on the écru and it's been the opposite — the warm beige seems to disguise the little scuffs and marks of daily life far better than my old black bag ever did, oddly enough. Black shows every speck of dust and every scratch catches the light. This just quietly absorbs the minor wear and keeps looking clean. A quick wipe now and then and it's pristine. If you've been avoiding the neutral for fear of marks, I'd reconsider.

The bag that made me stop double-carrying

Before this I always left the house with two bags: one for padel, one for work. Every single day. This écru one merged them into one and I hadn't realised how much the daily juggle was annoying me until it stopped. Laptop in the padded sleeve, racket in its pocket, shoes vented away from everything, work bits in the organiser sections. One strap over the shoulder and I'm out the door. It sounds trivial but reclaiming that little bit of daily friction has been genuinely lovely. And it looks smart enough that nobody would guess it's doing double duty.

Converted my whole padel group

I turned up to our regular game with the écru and by the end of the session two of the others had photographed it to look it up. Now three of us have one in different colours and it's become a bit of a running joke that we're sponsored. Beyond the looks, the practical stuff is what keeps everyone raving — the racket pocket, the shoe vent, the fact it doesn't look like kit. It's not often a bag becomes a talking point among a group of people who just want to play, but this one managed it.

Doesn't age like cheaper bags

I've had this beige one for a few months of near-daily use now, and the thing I keep noticing is what hasn't happened. No fraying at the seams. No sagging in the base. No stuck zips. No fading of the colour. Cheaper bags I've owned start looking tired almost immediately, but this has stayed crisp. The reinforced base especially seems to be doing its job — it still stands upright and holds its shape. When something refuses to wear out, you stop thinking about it, which is exactly what you want from a bag.

The organisation ended my rummaging

I am a chronic bag-rummager — keys always at the bottom, phone lost in a void. The internal zip pockets in this have actually cured me of it. There's a place for the small stuff, a padded spot for the laptop, the shaped pocket for the racket and the vented section for shoes. Everything has a home, so I'm not upending the whole bag at the court entrance looking for my key fob. It's a small quality-of-life change that I notice every single day. The écru looks calm and organised on the outside too, which somehow matches how it makes me feel using it.

Gift that landed perfectly

Bought the écru for my sister's birthday — she'd just got into padel and was carrying her gear in a bag-for-life. Her reaction when she opened it was worth the price alone. She's messaged me twice since to say how much she uses it and how many people have asked where it's from. The neutral colour meant I didn't have to gamble on her taste, and the quality meant it felt like a proper present rather than a token. If you're buying for someone who plays, this is a safe and genuinely delightful bet.

Small enough to be neat, big enough to matter

Around six litres doesn't sound like much, and I worried it'd be too small. In practice the clever internal layout means it holds far more than the number suggests, while staying compact enough that it never feels like I'm lugging a suitcase. It's the Goldilocks size — everything I need for a court-and-work day fits, nothing rattles around in wasted space, and it tucks neatly under a café table or train seat. The beige keeps it looking tidy rather than sporty. Getting the proportions right is harder than it looks and they've nailed it here.

Rain test passed with flying colours

We had a proper autumn downpour the day after mine arrived and I had to walk fifteen minutes from the courts to the car. I braced myself for a soggy laptop and damp clothes. Everything inside was completely dry. The water-repellent shell beaded the rain right off and the beige didn't stain or water-mark the way I feared a light colour might. I wouldn't drop it in a pool, but for real-world British weather it's more than up to the job. That single walk sold me on it more than any spec sheet could.

Held its own against my old designer tote

I used to carry an expensive leather tote and switched to this écru for practicality, fully expecting to feel like I'd downgraded. I don't. It looks every bit as considered, the material feels lovely, and it does about ten things my tote couldn't — namely holding a racket, ventilating my shoes and protecting my laptop. The tote's now gathering dust. It turns out I'd been prioritising how a bag looked over whether it actually worked for my life. This one does both, and the beige is smart enough that I never feel underdressed carrying it.

Three carry modes I genuinely rotate through

I assumed I'd pick one way to carry it and ignore the rest, but I actually use all three depending on the day. Top handles for a quick dash from car to court. Crossbody when I'm walking into town and want my hands free. Backpack straps for the longer walk from the station when it's fully loaded. Everything clips away neatly so it never looks like a mess of dangling straps. That flexibility is the quiet genius of it — one bag that reconfigures to whatever the day needs rather than forcing you to carry it one fixed way.

The colour photographs badly and looks better in person

Fair warning: the écru looks a bit flat and plain in the product photos, and in person it's far nicer — a soft, warm, slightly creamy beige with a lovely texture to the material. I almost went for a bolder colour because the beige looked underwhelming on screen. So glad I didn't. In real life it's elegant and rich, and it goes with literally everything in my wardrobe. If you're on the fence because the neutral seems boring online, trust me, it's anything but once it's in your hands.

Bought it for padel, use it for everything

I got the écru specifically for my Tuesday and Thursday games, but it's crept into the rest of my week. It's my hospital-bag backup, my overnight bag for my mum's, my carry-all for beach days. The internal organisation means I always know where my keys and phone are, and the shape holds whether it's full or half-empty. It doesn't scream sports bag, so I'm never embarrassed carrying it into somewhere smart. Honestly it's become the most-used bag I own, which is not what I expected when I bought a bag ostensibly for racket sports.

Comfortable loaded up, which is rare

A lot of bags are fine empty and agony full. I loaded this to the brim — racket, shoes, laptop, water bottle, spare clothes — and carried it across the city as a backpack, and my shoulders didn't complain once. The straps are wide enough to distribute the weight and padded where it counts. When I switched to crossbody the strap sat flat instead of digging in. For something that holds this much, staying comfortable when it's heavy is the real test, and it passes. The beige also somehow doesn't look bulky even when it's completely packed, which I appreciate.

Understated luxury that survives real life

The écru colour looks expensive, almost like a designer piece, but it's built to be used hard. I expected to be precious about keeping it clean and instead I've discovered the material wipes down easily and hides marks better than I feared. It's been on train floors, café chairs and the boot of my car, and it still looks refined. The balance it strikes — genuinely luxe to look at, genuinely rugged in use — is unusual. Most bags are one or the other. This manages both, and the neutral tone means it'll never look dated the way a trend colour might.

The shoe pocket alone is worth it

I know it sounds dramatic to rave about a shoe pocket, but if you play regularly you'll understand. Sweaty, sometimes muddy court shoes used to go in a carrier bag inside my main bag, and everything still ended up smelling. This has a proper ventilated compartment that zips away entirely from your clothes and laptop. My fresh outfit stays fresh, my bag doesn't hold odours, and I've stopped rummaging for spare plastic bags before every session. It's such an obvious feature that I can't understand why more bags don't have it. Beige and beautiful, and yet the thing I love most is where I put my dirty shoes.

My husband is now jealous of my bag

Bought the écru for myself and my husband has been eyeing it up ever since. He plays too and has a sad black holdall that reeks of old trainers. The difference is the shoe compartment — mine has a dedicated vented pocket so my court shoes never contaminate the rest of my things, and his just tosses everything in together. He's asked me to order him one, which tells you everything. The beige is arguably a bit smart for him but honestly it suits anyone. A rare bit of kit that's both practical and something you're pleased to be seen with.

Sceptical about the price, converted after a month

I'll be honest, I hesitated at the price and nearly bought a cheaper holdall. A month in, I'm relieved I didn't. The cheaper ones I've owned sag, smell and fray within a season. This still looks brand new despite being thrown in the boot most days, rained on twice, and generally not looked after. The water-repellent shell shrugged off a downpour and my laptop stayed bone dry. When you work out the cost per use it's already paid for itself, and I expect to be carrying it for years. Sometimes the more expensive option is the cheaper one in the end.

Finally something that fits my 14-inch and my kit

I do a lot of court-then-café working, so the padded laptop sleeve was the deciding factor for me. My 14-inch fits with room to spare, and it sits protected against the back panel rather than rattling around with my shoes. I can fit a full change of clothes, my racket, my trainers and my laptop and still zip it shut without a fight. The beige version is understated enough that I've taken it into client meetings without anyone raising an eyebrow. It's become the only bag I reach for, which is the highest compliment I can give a bag.

O
Odette Owen
The details are where it wins

On paper it's just a bag, but it's the small choices that make it. The zips are chunky and glide instead of catching. The base is reinforced so it stands up on its own rather than flopping over. The straps unclip fully so you're never fighting a tangle of webbing. Even the embossed logo is subtle rather than shouty. I've owned plenty of sports bags that felt like an afterthought, and this is the first one where it's obvious someone sweated the details. The beige shows less than you'd fear, too — a wipe with a damp cloth and it's back to new.
